The Pavilion is situated on Prestbury Memorial Playing Field and can be accessed through the Prestbury Road kissing gate entrances or the main entrance in New Barn Close.
The Prestbury Road Playing Field is a dedicated Memorial Field to all those men from Prestbury who died in the Second World War and was acquired by Prestbury Parish Council in June 1952.
It was not until 1962 that the Parish Council obtained the necessary bye-law and planning approval for the present Pavilion and the final plan was exhibited at the Women's Institute at the March Annual Assembly that year.

With grants both from the County Council and a Ministry of Housing loan, the Parish Council was able to proceed with the build.
The Pavilion was built by G.W.Ward & Son Limited and on Saturday 23rd May 1964 the Pavilion was officially opened by C.G.Clinton McIllquham.
When new regulations came into force with regard to sports facilities and disability legislation changes were made to the Pavilion and an extension was built in 2004.
In 2009 the Parish Council added an office/committee room and incorporated changes to the internal layout.
Today, the Pavilion offers three changing rooms, showers and two referee changing rooms in addition to its office space and main hall plus kitchen.

The Main Hall can be hired over the weekend and in the evenings by community groups.
Outside of the school term year, the Hall is also available for hire.
Please note we cannot accept bookings for parties with music or events requiring a drinks/enterntainment licence.

For details of hire charges please contact the Parish Clerk 01242  575129 or use our contact form

During the school year the Main Hall offers accommodation to the Little Explorers Playgroup who run sessions throughout school term time from 9.30am to 12pm and 12pm to 2.30pm with the option for children to bring packed lunches and attend a "full day" from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
Children can attend Little Explorers from 2 years 9 months old.
The Little Explorers Playgroup have been run from the Prestbury Pavilion for over thirty years (previously named Prestbury Pavilion Playgroup) and are a community, not-for-profit playgroup with a well qualified staff team overseen by a voluntary committee made up of parents whose children attend the group.

Currently the Playgroup is fully booked for next year and have a waiting list for the following two years. For further details of the Playgroup and contact details -

TENNIS COURTS

The Parish Council owns two tennis courts on the Prestbury Memorial Playing Field. These are leased to the Prestbury Tennis Club on a long term basis but are open to the general public when not in use by Tennis Club members.

PRESTBURY TENNIS CLUB

 Prestbury Tennis Club

As the only tennis club in Prestbury and with a membership of over sixty families the club is committed to promoting the sport of tennis throughout the year and for all ages. To that end they offer Social tennis on Sunday and Monday mornings and on Wednesday evenings and a booking service for the courts.

To encourage youth tennis the club has a junior membership and Saturday morning coaching sessions. Further, the club has opened to the parishioners of Prestbury the use of the courts, especially children, for the after-school hours of 4-6pm Monday to Thursday on a first come basis throughout the year.

All Prestbury tennis players are welcome to use the tennis courts, apart from schoolchildren's and social tennis times, bearing in mind that tennis club members have court priority.

For further details contact Heather Soons (Secretary) 01242 244331.

 CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA

Prestbury Parish Playing Field Prestbury Parish Playing Field Prestbury Parish Playing Field

Situated on the Parish Council's Prestbury Memorial Playing Field site, it is a convenient stopping-off point on the route to and from school as well as first introduction to outdoor play for the younger children

Our Play facilities are subject to a three-tier inspection regime following the principles set out by ROSPA. This consists of a routine daily/weekly visual check by our Groundsman for obvious hazards that can result from vandalism, use or weather conditions, an operational inspection to check the operation and stability of equipment especially for wear and an annual main inspection carried out by an qualified outside body to establish the overall level of safety of equipment, foundations and surfaces, effects of weather, presence of rotting or corrosion and any change in the level of safety of the equipment as a result of repairs made, or replaced components.

ALAN ROBSON MEMORIAL FIELD - NOVERTON

The Alan Robson Memorial Field was acquired by the Parish Council in 1976 and has been left as a natural open space for the quiet enjoyment of the countryside

PRESTBURY PARISH COUNCIL – SPORTS/PLAY/RECREATION PROVISION

In February 2011 the Parish Council formally adopted its policy on sports, play and recreation provision. The Policy statement recorded the Parish Council's commitment to maintain a balance between sports, play and general recreation use on its Prestbury Road Playing Field with a natural open green space maintained on the Alan Robson Memorial Field. It is important that our public open space has the flexibility to meet the individual and combined needs of many groups including those with an interest in sport and informal physical activity. We believe in the principle that there should be the opportunity for people of all ages to be able to share the open green spaces that the community and the Parish Council value highly.

YOUTH SHELTER

Parish Youth Shelter

The Youth Shelter is situated in Prestbury Road Playing Field and was erected in response to requests from youngsters for a place where they could gather to meet their friends. The design of the shelter was chosen to enable its use to be extended for all age groups using the Playing Field and facilities.

COMMUNITY PRIDE FUNDING

The Youth Shelter was the latest example of joint co-operation between Prestbury Parish Council and Cheltenham Borough Council. In September 2010 the Parish Council was granted 50% of the cost of the shelter from Cheltenham Borough Council's Community Pride Fund with the Parish Council making up the other 50%.

Another example of this joint funding was the erection of the Multi-Use Games Area on the Playing Field in June 2008 and May 2009 having been done in two stages, both funded via the Community Pride scheme.

Cheltenham Borough Council also co-funded the Children's Play Area on the Playing Field in 2001.
